Hi there - it's nice to meet you! Thank you for visiting Nurtured Family. Nurtured Family started from a passion
my husband and I have for nurturing our children. So far, we have five children - 4 boys and a girl. When our firstborn son was born in 2000, we found our new reality to be quite different from what we expected. Our son was content only when held by me and breastfed at least every 2 hours (day or night) the first year. I tried wearing my son using many different carriers - some good and some bad - and learned a lot as I went along. I found that parenting our son in a nurturing,
high-touch way was worth the many sacrifices, based on the benefits he received. Eventually, I became a distributor for my favorite sling, keeping a box in the trunk of my car for the times when people would ask me about it while out and about. When my husband left the high pressure high-tech world in 2003, we started Nurtured Family as an online store featuring our favorite baby sling, nursing bra, and cloth diaper. A few years later, we started Baby Holdings, Inc. - manufacturing ZoloWear, HAVA, and SlingEZee baby slings.
A little bit of random info for you about me - I'm married to my best friend. I love to cook (and try new restaurants!). I enjoy homeschooling my children (no, I'm not patient, but I'm growing in that area!). I grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but have lived in Nashville, San Francisco, Phoenix, San Diego, and Houston. I'm thankful for our children for many reasons - one being that they help iron out my selfishness. I love music and dancing. I'm enjoying having a large family, and am so grateful that our plans regarding family changed due to answered prayer. I had a pet rat in junior high. I love road trips and hope to travel the United States in a motor home for a year before our oldest child leaves our home.
