Kissaluvs fitted cloth diaper - open
Kissaluvs fitted cloth diapers are known for their quality fabrics and terrific fit. Their beautiful and plush textured fabrics and stretchy elastic leg and back openings contain even the most liquid diaper messes. Easy to use sturdy snaps make sure the diapers stay on your curious little one. Another benefit of Kissaluvs fitted diapers is their unique low rise front while providing full coverage in the back. This is especially helpful for newborns until the cord falls off. These diapers will require a diaper cover and for that we recommend Bummis covers. Made in USA.

Kissaluvs Fitted Care

Kissaluvs cotton fleece and unbleached fabrics need several good hot washes/drys before reaching initial absorbency. The fabric finishing used to create that fleecy softness needs a little roughing up in the washing machine to gain its feet, as it were. After the first 4 washes or so, you should have a good starting absorbency.

Before First Use
Wash/dry fleece and unbleached diapers on hot/high several times to reach initial absorbency. Wash only about a dozen or so at a time for the initial pre-washes. The fabric will lint a bit in these early washes. Wash and dry bright or dark fabrics on hot/high several times before mixing with lighter colored diapers. Depending on your water source and temperature, you may need fewer or additional washings, so always test colorfastness before mixing wet diapers of varying colors (e.g., toss in a white rag during a hot wash and dry cycle or two).

Regular Washing Routine
There are many opinions about diaper washing, and many people have developed additional steps and routines based on their individual needs. Our advice is to start simple and adjust only if necessary for your baby or water-type.
  • Toss wet or dirty diapers into a dry pail; wash every 2-3 days.
  • An optional cold-water pre-rinse helps prevent stains and odor.
  • Use hot water and everyday detergent, unless that detergent contains fabric softeners (a no-no for diapers).
  • Veggie-based soap helps keep fabric soft, although its effectiveness depends on the hardness of your water. In any water, soap can coat fabric, so consider alternating soap and detergent to avoid decreased absorbency over time.
  • No chlorine bleach. Nasty stuff, bleach.
  • No fabric softeners, which coat fabric and reduce absorbency.

Some babies require fragrance-free or enzyme-free detergents; most don't.

Drying diapers in a dryer, even on high heat, is perfectly okay, although an occasional sunning of clean, wet diapers will go a long way to freshen them and reduce or eliminate staining. If you choose to sun the diapers or line dry rather than use a dryer, we strongly suggest either laying the diapers flat to dry, or hanging them horizontally rather than by the waist or front section. Hanging wet diapers by the waist allows the heavy, wet weight to pull on leg elastic, which may reduce its useful life.

Other useful information
How many diapers to wash at a time depends on your washer, your washing routine, your philosophy, and your diapers. As a general rule of thumb, wash no more than 18 fitted diapers or 24 prefolds at a time. You may be able to do more or less, so do a little experimenting to find what works best for you and your washer.

Like towels and tee-shirts, diapers become more absorbent over time. This is especially true for cotton fleece and unbleached fabrics, which requires some initial "roughing up" in the washing machine. Most detergents suggest using a large amount of detergent. Use enough to clean, but not so much that it leaves residue.  If you see suds during a second rinse or a wash with no detergent, you're using too much detergent. Detergent residue attracts and retains soil and odor.

5 out of 5 stars Best Newborn diaper!
by EMarashi from Tomball, TX on 3/6/2011
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
I have tried tons of cloth diapers and these are my favorite for newborns and young babies. They are very durable and so cute on. I have washed them tons of times and they are still soft! Both of my boys were less than 6lbs at birth and these diapers fit like a dream. The diapers lasted until they were about 14-15lbs and even then, they still fit, but it was the absorbency that needed to be increased. We tried the size 1 for my first son, but they didn't seem to be proportionally absorbent (compared to the size 0) We plan to try them for our second son.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful product!

I love these diapers. I have used them with both of my babies and can’t complain one bit! I love that I have never had my baby leak out and that the fit around the leg works wonderfully. I love how soft the diaper and that my baby is still able to crawl and move around in it. I love the v2 diapers and how much more absorbent they are! These diapers are well worth the money and work wonderfully with the Marvel diaper cover!

4 out of 5 stars Worked for me
by Newbie Mum from NYC on 2/23/2011
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
I used the size 0 of this product and it worked. We did a lot of diaper changes due to her age so I could not review on how absorbant it is, but it worked for the time I needed it to. I did not purchase the size 1 as I moved to pockets.

4 out of 5 stars Great for the NB stage!
by bigmamakelsey from Missoula, MT on 2/22/2011

Great for the newborn stage - hold everything in well, fits small babies under the cord, and are soft. The only thing that bothered me is that they weren't very absorbant. I always had to use a doubler. Would buy these again for future babies, but with a doubler.

4 out of 5 stars Good Fit under any Cover
by Nina from San Antonio on 2/22/2011
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
These worked great on my little guy from 7 pounds to 14. They fit well under a variety of covers, and were pretty trim fitting. However they don't hold as much as I would like, nor do they wisk the wetness away from the baby. I used a fleece liner to help keep baby drier, and at times added an extra insert. They are easy to fasten and easy to care for. Overall I liked them, just wish they were a little more absorbant. (Updated on 2/22/2011.)
