Surviving Hurricane Harvey
Harvey first made landfall on August 25th, over 2 months ago, and yet for many Texans it is still haunting our daily lives. Over 200,000 homes were damaged (nearly 13,000 were completely destroyed), and among those our own. Beauty can come from ashes... It’s time to pass the baton! For 13 years, we’ve enjoyed the adventure that creating and operating Nurtured Family has been. The high points for us were connecting with families in the Houston area and beyond who share the high calling of parenthood. Remembering Charlsie
One year ago, on January 17, my friend Kristin and I drove to the hospital where our friend, Charlsie, was receiving care. Five weeks prior, Charlsie had passed out while giving birth to her baby girl due to amniotic fluid embolism, never to awaken again. Her baby, Lilly, was born by emergency C-section in the ER, and received care in the NICU, but passed on to be with the Lord. For five weeks, Charlsie battled great pain while hooked up to machines that kept her alive.
